Dale NewmanHello and welcome to my site!

I am a Sydney-based artist and illustrator with a fundamental passion for drawing and creating soulful images. I spent my childhood making things which later led me to study visual art at technical college and university. I majored in printmaking and was particularly drawn to lithography and etching.

I have a strong interest in dreams (having always been a vivid dreamer) and this is the source of imagery for my personal work, which you can view in the artwork folio. Dreams provide rich material for contemplation, and I find the process of giving them form really compelling. These works have been exhibited and now live in various private collections.

My experience in illustration began in the art room of a daily newspaper where for five years I provided editorial graphics. I have freelanced since 2007 and work mostly in children’s and adult publishing. I love illustrating stories for children and have a two year old son who is a constant source of inspiration!

Some recent published work appears in:
Songbird by Claire Kamber - Blake Publishing 2010
Worlds Next Door edited by Tehani Wessely - FableCroft Publishing 2010
A Toast to Professor Appleton by Marion Halligan - Boombana Publications 2007

I’ve also had work published by Cengage Learning, Random House and Five Islands Press.

Please enjoy having a look around my site and feel free to contact me if you have an enquiry.
